Why choose WebWeaver?

We reckon the defining characteristics of WebWeaver - in addition to producing beautiful, user-centered websites - are our expertise and experience, our reliability and trustworthiness, and our competitive pricing.

Expertise

We've been doing this for a long time, and we're really good at what we do. All of us started in this industry in the very early years (1995/96), when everyone taught themselves and learned on the job. Back then we were all generalists, as specialisation was not an option, which gave us a great overview of the web design process from start to finish. We're now each approaching the three-decade mark (crikey!) which makes us positively ancient in web designer years.

The biggest advantage this gives us is in our levels of experience and expertise. The web industry is ever-changing, which means you're continually learning new stuff in order to keep up with new technology and techniques. We all love this aspect of the web, and embrace it wholeheartedly - we wouldn't have lasted this long in the industry if we didn't.

The web industry is now well into its third complete re-do of the fundamental techniques of web design and development since we began (tables-based layouts; separating content and layout via pure CSS; and responsive web design) and we still can't get enough of it.

Ali’s years in the web industry, for example, have given her a very wide range of skills and experience - encompassing every phase of the web design process from the initial pitch for a web contract right through scoping, wireframing, UX design, visual design, HTML/CSS/jQuery development and testing - ultimately delivering completed templates ready for CMS integration by Tom St George. She also does client liaison, project management, video editing, content strategy, writing for the web, content-loading, web editing, proofreading and QA.

Tom's never met a website he couldn't integrate, or a Content Management System he couldn't crack, and he can make your website do pretty much anything you want - and is happy to help you figure out what that might be, and to show you the range of functionality that can be achieved in websites today.

We understand the web design process from start to finish at a very detailed level, including the range of requirements and activities necessary for the successful completion of each phase. It's why we don't need project managers - because we're highly qualified to lead and manage web projects ourselves as well as to actually get in there and do the work. We find it works better that way (and saves you money).

Reliability

There are a lot of cowboys in this industry, which makes us both sad and mad. We've lost count of the number of times we've been asked to rescue web projects over the years. We know that if you've never had to manage the business of commissioning a website before, it's hard to know what questions to ask, or how to tell whether a web design professional is any good or not.

The vast majority of our work - both freelance and contract - comes either through personal recommendation or repeat business - and as a result we've never had to advertise our services.

We think that speaks volumes about the quality of our work, and our reliability. We've collected together a few testimonials from happy clients over the years. We're quite proud of them. We really love what we do, and we always want to do the best job possible for our clients and their website visitors.

We're perfectionists who take great pride in our work, and we're also grownups, who know what we're doing and can get the job done quickly and efficiently. Our quotes are based on years of experience, and our way of working is communicative, open, honest and straightforward. If we think your deadline or budget is unrealistic, we'll tell you and explain why, and we'll work with you to come up with a sensible timeline and costing that gives you what you want and allows us all to do our best work.

We've never missed a deadline, and we've never gone over budget. We intend to maintain that record and to continue to provide exemplary service to all our clients. It's what we're good at.

Competitive pricing

WebWeaver doesn't have fancy offices, or support staff, or project managers. We each work from home, which keeps our overheads (and your bills!) down, and we manage our own projects. We'll shout you a coffee at one of Wellington's awesome cafes if we need to meet up - and you won't find us passing the costs back to you in the next invoice, either.

We take great care to calculate exactly how long your web project will take to design and build - because that's how we do our fixed-price quotes. Some design companies charge you what they think the project is worth to you. We only ever charge for the number of hours we work - we don't feel comfortable charging more than this. If it's going to take us 80 hours to do the work, that's what we'll quote.

We're pretty good at doing accurate calculations because we absolutely guarantee our bill will never be more than our original quote, unless you change the project requirements or scope. This means, if we get it wrong and underquote, we cover the additional costs, not you.

Our hourly rates reflect our levels of experience and expertise, while at the same time remaining reasonable. They are much lower than they would be if we were employed or contracted by a design agency - because the agencies have overheads to cover and a profit that needs to be made from our work.

When you get WebWeaver to design your website for you, you're getting the same expertise and high quality product that you'd get from the larger agencies, at a fraction of the price - and because we only work on a small number of websites at any one time, you get a far more personalised approach, too.

If this sounds good to you, please get in touch. We'd love to have a chat about your web project and see if we'd be a good match. You might also like to take a look at our website case studies - it'll give you a good overview of what we can do and the range of clients we've done work for.
